HAZARDOUS TREES
1. Pollards - Often indicated by a sudden change in stem diameter. Decay may be present but hidden by growth.
2. Break-out cavity - May develop in wounds caused by branches breaking.
3. Weak fork - V-shaped crotches are structurally weak and decay may develop in them.
4. Pruning wound cavities - A layer pf paint may appear to be sound but decay may have developed in the wood.
5. Loose bark - Bark coming away from stem may indicate the presence of rotten wood beneath.
6. Basal cavities - These are particularly dangerous if present between more than one pair of buttresses.

7. Crown dieback - Foliage small, sparse or pale. tree flushes late or drops its leaves early.
8. Perennial or target canker - Such cankers may result in weakness of branch or stem.
9. Abrupt bends - Resulting from pruning in the past. Decay may be present.
10. Fungal fruit bodies - Bracket fungi on the stem are a positive indication of internal decay. Fruit bodies on or near roots may also indicate decay but many harmless or beneficial toadstools also grow near roots.
11. Soil cracks - Heaving of ground may occur when a tree with an unstable root system moves in a wind.
12. Damaged roots - Site disturbance or poor soil conditions may lead to restricted rooting.
HEDGE TRIMMING
Hedge trimming and reduction service, particularly the Leylandi due to its fast growing can soon become a problem that we can help you manage.
LOGS AND KINDLING
As a by-product of our work we are able to supply good quality logs. Anyone who has a log fire knows its charm but also we are finding that with soaring prices of gas, coal and electricity more people are turning to a log fire.
We are able to supply good quality logs in various quantities:

By the bag

By the builder (ton type etc.)

By the pick up load

You can call into the yard as well!

CHARITY GARDEN MULCH
My charity garden mulch scheme which I am proud to state over the past 6 years has managed to raise nearly £3,500. During the course of our work, tree debris is chipped and brought back to our yard where we allow the public to help themselves to our heap of wood chippings. The wood chippings can be used as a garden mulch (an alternative to garden bark). All we ask is that the public make a donation in our collection box.
Over the past six years we have raised money for:

(02-03) Wrexham Maelor Shooting Star Appeal - £82.50

(03-04) Mac Millon Cancer Relief - £300.00

(04-05) Marie Curie Cancer Care - £508.77

(05-06) Wales Air Ambulance - £1,015.93

(06-07) Wales Air Ambulance - £806.85

(07-08) Nightingale House - £718.71

(08-09) Nightingale House - £802.94

(09-10) Hope House - £740.00

(10-11) Hope House - £705.65

To date over the past 9 years we have managed to raise £5,681.35. This year we will be continuing our support to the Nightingale House & Hope House charity.

We are on Afonietha Road, Pen-y-cae, Wrexham.
There is a sign outside our yards entrance clearly marked 'Charity Garden Mulch'.
